What is a Financial Enforcement Action?

Financial enforcement actions are configurable remediation actions you can set to trigger on a funding source, project, or OU when a spending limit is surpassed. You can also set enforcement actions at the service level within a project or OU.

When you have financial enforcement actions configured, you get:

  • Visual indicators to automatically alert users of excess spending.
  • Automated actions to freeze spend or downsize instances.
  • Workflow integrations to request funds and perform other custom actions.

While you can set enforcement actions at the funding source or OU level, we recommend setting enforcements at the project level for more granular control. When you set enforcements at the funding source or OU level, every associated project will be affected if one project overspends.

Custom Financial Enforcement Messages

Users can customize the messaging of enforcement emails, add supporting information, and helpful links by going to Settings → Email and Notification Settings. From there, you can enable custom messaging and set the subject line and body of the email users will receive.
