General UI Options

The General UI Options section of System Settings allows admins to control whether OU names and custom permission schemes are visible.

Permissions Required

Changing the general UI settings requires the user to be the administrator, a member of the administrator group, or a user with global Manage Kion System Settings permissions (by default, this includes the Owner global permission role).

Show OU Names

Under the Show OU Name in Org Chart section, admins can hide OU names on the organization chart from designated users. If your OU names include sensitive information or should otherwise be kept private, this ensures that only users with the appropriate privileges will see the names.

By default, all users are allowed to see OU names. You can turn this off by taking the following steps:

  1. Log in as the administrator or as a member of the administrator group.
  2. Navigate to Settings  >System Settings.
  3. Select General UI Options under User Interface Settings.
  4. Toggle the Allow All Users to See OU Name in Org Chart button to OFF.
  5. Click Update Settings.

Allow Custom Permission Schemes

The Allow Custom Permission Schemes section allows you to turn on custom permission schemes in the UI. This is off by default. When this is turned off, users cannot add or view custom permission schemes.

To turn on custom permission schemes:

  1. Log in as the administrator or as a member of the administrator group.
  2. Navigate to Settings  >System Settings.
  3. Select General UI Options under User Interface Settings.
  4. Toggle the Allow adding new custom permission schemes button to ON.
  5. Click Update Settings.
