Changing the Billing Source on an Account

For information on changing the billing source that an account is associated with, see Managing Billing Sources.

Accounts and the Account Cache

When adding accounts to Kion, you can add them to a project or the account cache. Adding accounts to the account cache is useful if you want to preload your accounts and attach them to projects later on. However, to access accounts through Kion, they must be attached to a project.

For more information, see The Account Cache

Additional Configuration Options

While most accounts are managed the same way in Kion, there are a few special cases. These options affect accounts, but are not configured through the account wizard.

Account Creation

Depending on the types of accounts you want to manage, you may need to configure the billing source to allow account creation through Kion. For more information, see:

AWS GovCloud Accounts

You can include spending from any linked GovCloud accounts in the financial reports for your AWS commercial accounts without having Kion manage the GovCloud account. For more information, see Reporting AWS GovCloud Spend.

Deleting an Account

When you delete an account in Kion, the account is removed from Kion, but remains in your cloud provider's console. This action cannot be undone. No webhooks will be run upon deletion, and any accrued spend for the month in which you delete it will no longer be visible within Kion. Any compliance findings for the account will be archived upon account deletion.

To delete an account:

  1. Navigate to Accounts > All Accounts.
  2. Click the ellipsis menu next to the account you want to delete and select Delete.
  3. Acknowledge that you understand:
  4. Click Delete.
